Autonomy classes A0 through A4

Not every task should be fully automated. We grade every agent action on a five-step scale: A0 (manual), A1 (assistive — suggests only), A2 (supervised — writes to staging, human signs), A3 (semi-autonomous — narrow pre-approved policy), A4 (fully autonomous).

For regulated work, the default is A2. A4 is prohibited by architectural policy: a human signature is always required to promote work into the live record.
